Whelp, Looks Like I Need a New Password Manager

I'm not sure how many years I've been using 1Password as my password manager. However long it's been, it's been a long time. Now, I believe that time is coming to an end, and it sucks because it's not because the product is no longer working great, but because the company has decided to start funding an avowed racist.

1Password pledged $300,000 to the Omacom Foundation, the organization behind the Omarchy Linux distribution. Omarchy has the distinction of being run by David Heinemeier Hansson (DHH) who is a racist who supports the ethnic cleansing of Europe among other things. He's not a good person, and is probably worse than you realize.

Whether 1Password's leaders agree with DHH or not is not the point. The point is that they are choosing to fund and support an organization run by a person who has absolutely hateful, bigoted views and in turn supporting those same views.

I don't want my money going towards a company who thinks that's okay.

So now I'm starting to look for a new password manager. I'm not particularly looking forward to this process, but I believe in speaking with your wallet. My wallet might not be big enough to be noticed, but it's still important to me.

And for those of you who have not yet using a proper password manager, don't let 1Password's poor decision scare you away from using password managers. They are a fantastic tool to help keep your accounts secure.
