August 2024 Check-In

August came and went pretty quickly. I ran a lot, finished redesigning my site, did some house work, and felt like I had a productive month.

Containerizing an Existing Blazor Project

I've been working on a .NET 8 Blazor Web App and needed to create a docker image of it so I can deploy it to my Synology NAS. I ran into several hiccups during the process and figured I'd share what I learned about the process.


Building My Media Repository

Over the course of the last several months, I’ve been building a new web app to store content for my site rather than Notion. I’ve been wanting to own my data and this allows me to keep control of my gain better control. I’ve mentioned this before, but figured I’d go through some of the technical details behind it so far.

I heard on a podcast the other day that you know you’re getting older when the months start to fly by. I kind of get that after realizing that it’s August already.

Balancing Being Informed & My Mental Health

I try to keep myself informed and apprised about what is going on in the world. I feel it’s important to be aware of the news and whatnot. The downside of this is that it oftentimes leaves me stressed out, angry, and anxious about the state of the world. Lately I’ve been struggling with not devolving into a state of perpetual despair.

June 2024 Check-In

I can’t believe the year is already half over. But whether I believe it is or not makes no difference. The highlight of June was my birthday trip to New York City.


Thinking Accessibility and CSS for My Site

One of the simplest things developers and people can do with regards to accessibility is to make sure that every image has corresponding alt text to go along with it to help describe the image to those who are visibly-impaired.

6 Months with 11ty

At the end of 2023, I switched my site from being built with Next.js to 11ty. 6 months on, I’m still quite happy with my decision.
