Week Notes forApril 19 - 25 (#96)

It was another quiet week. I did appreciate the temperatures falling, though waking up to 30ºF weather wasn't quite what I had in mind.

Giving Up on the Smoke Detector Issues and Just Replacing Them

A while back I talked about the mystery of why a smoke detector was going off in one of our rooms. We never quite figured it out. We ended up replacing it with a different model and type. We went from a photoelectric model to an ionization model, and knock on wood, we seem to be okay. Two of the other four I replaced back in January started going off as well, so all four of the new smoke detectors have been replaced. It's annoying and all I can really think is that we got a bad batch.

First Hat Trick in Hockey

I played hockey Friday and scored my first hat trick. A hat trick is scoring three goals in the same game. I'm not usually a big scorer, but managed to get three goals so it was a little exciting for me in our win.

Vietnamese-Style Caramelized Chicken

I found this recipe in their magazine and decided to give it a try. I did change it slightly by seeding the jalapeño peppers. It turned out well, but I wasn't able to get the sauce to thicken so I'm not sure what I did wrong in that aspect.
