Week Notes forAugust 2 - 8 (#110)

It's been a good week, with a brutally hot and humid heat wave towards the end.

End of I-League's Regular Season

The 8 week regular season of I-League finished with us winning 8-4 and finishing 6-2. We're off to the playoffs and hope to win Monday to make it to the championship. I feel like my play this season hasn't been quite up to snuff, but hockey is a team sport and my teammates have picked me up.

Catching Up on My Read-It-Later List

Over the last couple of months my read-it-later list has been growing ever longer. I kept adding more articles to read, but seldom going through and reading them. This week I've been trying to make a concerted effort to focus on all the articles I've saved and to read them. I've made a chunk of progress and hope to continue the effort before inevitably adding more.

More Smoke Detector Fun

I replaced all the smoke detectors in January as the old ones were at least 10 years old. The ones I got kept randomly going off and for the better part of two months we kept trying to figure out why. We never did. In April, I replaced them again, this time with ionization smoke detectors, and they've been fine since...until Thursday. Thursday the detector went off in the morning. As best as we can tell, the extreme humiditiy was setting it off. Ionization ones are apparently susceptible to humiditiy and false alarms. So we're replacing that one again and hoping for the best. The attic does get very hot and humid in the summer, but there's only so much we can do about it. It's just frustrating trying to figure out a way to make sure we get notified when there is a problem without getting blasted by false alarms.
