Week Notes forSeptember 13 - 19 (#116)

It was another quiet week. A lot of writing and even some home repairs.

Writing

I set a goal this month to write at least 500 words a day towards my novel. 19 days into September, I've hit this goal every day. I'm proud of myself and am making good progress. The downside is that I've for the most part neglected any other writing. I figure I'll try to get a post or two in this month, but figure more will come in October.

New Attic Door

We have a bifold door for the stairs leading up to our attic. Over the last year or so top corner of the door has been splintering where the pin the doors rotate on resides. This caused us some trouble opening and closing the door. Finally it really broke which necessitated us replacing it. The hardest part was cutting the door height down. No doors came in the exact size so we had to trim about 2 inches off the bottom. Thankfully that went smoothly as did everything else about the job. We now have a new door that opens and closes properly. Given how so many of the repairs we've dealth with have gone off the rails, it was nice to have an easy project.

Cooking

We ended up getting 3 pounds of kielbasa at BJ's last week and needed to use it before it went bad, so this week was a little kielbasa heavy.

Kielbasa & Rice

This recipe was pretty simple to make. I didn't add the bacon, but I don't feel like it needed it. It ended up being pretty good and easy to make. The horseradish, barbecue sauce, and brown sugar worked well together.

Kielbasa Kebabs

I took this recipe as an inspiration. I added red onions and skipped the glaze. They turned out well. Nice easy grilled dinner.
