August 2026 Check-In
August was a mostly quiet month. Had a nice authors event and wedding, but other than that, just took it easy.
Chuck Wendig & Clay McLeod Chapman
I've been a fan of Chuck Wendig since I read his novel, Black River Orchard. I really enjoyed it and eventually started reading his other books. I really loved Wanderers and Wayward. I think it was last year I had gone to an event of Chuck's at the Doylestown Bookshop where Clay McLeod Chapman interviewed him about the launch of The Staircase in the Woods. It inspired me to get a few books of Clay's as well. I enjoyed them as well.
So when I found out the two of them were both coming back to Doylestown for the Dark Ink event, each promoting the release of their newest novels. Chuck with The Calamities and Clay with Devil Inside, well I had to go. My wife and I made a nice little date night of it. Dinner and drinks followed by an independent bookstore event, perfect date night if you ask me.
Both authors were fantastic, funny, and down to earth. We were able to get a bunch of books signed as well which was great. Would do it again.
Wedding in Philly
The month ended with a weekend trip into Philadelphia for a wedding and it was a nice ceremony and reception. Friday and Saturday during the day I wandered around center city. I spent some time in Rittenhouse Square with my laptop writing and enjoying the nice weather.
