May 2026 Check-In
It was a mostly good month. Still can't believe there was a stretch of 90ยฐ weather mid-month, but here we are.
Sing Us Home
I mentioned it in a week note, but the month started with us going to the Sing Us Home music festival in Manyunk, Philadelphia, PA. It was 3 straight days of music. Some of the bands I've seen, others were brand new to me. The weather was absolutely beautiful and it was a nice little area to have a concert.

Lots of Hockey
I joined another team this season, which means when I-League starts back up later this month, I'll be on three teams. I don't generally mind as it's a fun sport to play and keeps me active. It just meant that there were a few more nights out late on the ice. It also included one night playing two games. Back-to-back games as a goalie can be a little rough. Back-to-backs as a skater are always rough. I was gassed by the end, but still had a good time. It's nice to get out, get some exercise, hang out with my teammates, then come home and read for a bit before finally crawling into bed.
Scare with Tess
We found a lump on Tess' hindquarters. That's never a good thing, except this time, well kinda. Turns out it's a histiocytoma which can be common on younger dogs. It's benign thankfully and should resolve on its own. Also thankfully, Tess seems completely oblivious to it so she's not bothering at it at all which is good. It was just a week of waiting for the results making sure that it wasn't a real problem. She's her happy, energetic self.
Sci-Fi Book Club
I ended up going to the sci-fi book club for May. The book was Star Wars: From a Certain Point of View and I enjoyed it. I enjoyed the book club and will probably try to shoe-horn the books in as I can to go future months.
