July 2026 Check-In

July was a mostly quiet month that started with a massive heat wave that happened to occur as my central AC crapped the bed.

Early Heat Wave

The month started off with a heat wave over the 4th of July weekend with temperatures reaching triple digits. And of course our AC wasn't working properly. Our house was quite uncomfortable and while we were able to deal with it for the most part, I felt worse for Tess with her fur coat. We let her hang out most of the long weekend in the basement where it was naturally cooler. We had our HVAC company out Monday and thankfully they were able to get our AC running smoothly again...of course, after the heat wave had ebbed. Oh well, saved us later in the month when the temps got back into the 90s.

I Was In a Rhythm

I had finally gotten in kind of a routine with lifting when I was treated for some hip pain and was told to rest and avoid strenuous exercise. So much for the routine. I will say that the weak plus of rest did wonders. Worth it, but stinks to have to get back into the swing of things.

Personal Site Updates

I finally got serious about my photography site and now have that mostly gotten it built out. I started a new look/feel that I'll be applying to this site as well, so once I finish this redesign, this site will hopefully look better with a photography site to match.

Writing and Capturing Ideas

I've been trying to do a better job at tracking my writing ideas and to write more. I've tried some new ways of capturing ideas and so far I've been having some success with it. I'm hoping to keep with it. I just need to figure out how to balance writing my blog and writing more towards my novel.
