September 2026 Check-In

It was a kind of crazy month with hockey, but I was able to enjoy it. I got a lot of writing done and went deeper down the fountain pen rabbit hole.

Writing

I set a goal to write 500+ words a day towards my novel. I achieved that goal and got a good amount written. There's still plenty to go, but I feel good about the progress I made.

Crazy Hockey Schedule

My teams in Men's league have started back up and it's been an absolute crazy start to the season. In less than a month, we've already played 5 games for each team. It might not seem like much, but it's generally more than we play in any given month. For a season that lasts 18 games and goes into April, it's kind of nuts. My team is off to a slower start, but we're finding our footing.

Fountain Pens & Notebooks

I've been using fountain pens for a little while now, but have been sticking with a few basic LAMY Safari pens of different nib sizes and ink cartridges. I took a step forward and got a new TWSBI Eco pen and a bunch of ink. This will be my first pen to use inkwells. I even got a converter for one of my LAMYs. To go along with this, I've picked up a bunch of Leuchtturm1917 notebooks. I journal both right as I wake up and before I go to bed, and it's nice to have a nice pen and notebook to write in. I'm excited to play around with different colors and see how I want to use the magic of pen and paper to keep track of my thoughts. The only downside is that the notebook I got before all of this for work doesn't do well with fountain pen ink. It's a mistake I'll have to rectify once I'm through it.
